Employment and Training
Recruitment and Referral of Employees The Office of Job Training, along with its partners in the MN Workforce Center, can assist a company in identifying and referring potential employees by job skill. The company will retain total discretion in establishing qualifying criteria and ultimate hiring decisions should it choose to utilize this service. The Workforce Center also offers facilities for conducting interviews and pre-employment testing activities. In addition, Workforce Center staff could work with a company to assist in scheduling interviews and taking applications to alleviate job seeker traffic.
On the Job Training This federal program administered by the Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training provides wage reimbursement for up to half of the hourly wage during the time it takes to train new employees, up to six months. The Office of Job Training must identify potential employees as eligible for the program on an individual basis prior to the commencement of permanent, full-time employment. The possibility of On the Job Training and the length of each agreement will depend on the prior skills and work experience of each individual. Those with little experience in the field will be more likely candidates for the On the Job Training program.
